International results round-up

With 16 players from Paris Saint-Germain’s first-team squad having joined up with their respective national teams over the international break, here’s a round-up of how they fared.

WARREN ZAÏRE-EMERY / OUSMANE DEMBÉLÉ / RANDAL KOLO MUANI / Bradley barcola - FRANCE

Two friendlies awaited a France squad featuring Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani over the international break, which got underway for Les Bleus with a 3-0 win over Luxembourg last Wednesday at Metz's Stade Saint-Symphorien. Of the four Paris players selected, only Kolo Muani started the match, with Barcola and Zaïre-Emery coming on in the second half and Dembélé remaining on the bench, and it was Kolo Muani who shone the brightest as he scored France's opening goal, although Barcola also notched up an assist for his side's third and final goal in what was his very first appearance for Les Bleus. Then, on Sunday, France drew 0-0 with Canada in a game that Dembélé started and Kolo Muani came into as a late substitute.

NUNO MENDES / VITINHA / DANILO PEREIRA / GONÇALO RAMOS - PORTUGAL

Nuno Mendes's, Vitinha's, Danilo Pereira's and Gonçalo Ramos's Portugal played three friendlies over the international break, starting with a 4-2 win over Finland at Lisbon's Estádio José Alvalade last Tuesday, which the first two players started and the latter two came into as second-half substitutes. Roberto Martínez's men were then beaten 2-1 by Croatia at Oeiras's Estádio Nacional do Jamor five days later, this time with Mendes, Vitinha and Danilo all in the starting XI. Finally, to round off their preparations for the EURO, A Seleção das Quinas faced the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday in a game that none of Paris's quartet started, although Danilo and Mendes did come into it in the 46th minute to help their side to a confidence-boosting 3-0 win before heading out to Germany.

GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA - ITALY

The capital club's first-choice keeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, only had one game to play over the international break with Italy: a 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina at Empoli's Stadio Carlo Castellani. The Rouge et Bleu goalie both started the match and captained his side, who now head to the EURO full of confidence as they bid to retain their European crown.

FABIAN RUIZ - SPAIN

Fabián Ruiz's Spain were also in friendly action over the international break, with La Roja thrashing Northern Ireland 5-1 at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. Les Rouge et Bleu's no. 8 played the entirety of the encounter and directly contributed to his side's win by scoring the third goal of the game.

MARQUINHOS / LUCAS BERALDO - BRAZIL

Brazil got their 2024 Copa América preparations underway with a friendly against Mexico, which they won 3-2 without any help from their two Paris players. The pair would start the next game, though, namely a 1-1 draw with the United States.

MANUEL UGARTE - URUGUAY

Manuel Ugarte's Uruguay recorded a 0-0 draw with Costa Rica as well as a stunning 4-0 victory over Mexico in their two warm-up games ahead of the upcoming Copa América in the United States, with the Paris midfielder playing the entirety of the second fixture.

ACHRAF HAKIMI - MOROCCO

Achraf Hakimi's Morocco had two friendlies in their schedule over the international break, starting off with a 2-1 win over Zambia last Friday before a 6-0 demolition of Congo DR four days later. The Paris right-back played the entirety of both matches.

LEE KANG-IN - SOUTH KOREA

Lee Kang-in's South Korea had two clashes ahead of them over the international break – one against Singapore and another against China – in the second round of AFC qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Taegeuk Warriors cruised to a 7-0 win in last Thursday's match, with Paris's no. 19 named in the starting line-up before bagging himself a brace, while in this Tuesday's game, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win before being substituted in the 79th minute.

Milan Skriniar - SlovaKIA

Two friendlies were pencilled in for Milan Škriniar's Slovakia over the international break. The first one was a 4-0 win over San Marino at Austria's Wiener Neustadt Arena last Wednesday, while the second one saw Francesco Calzona's men inflict the same scoreline on Wales at Trnava's Štadión Antona Malatinského four days later, with Škriniar featuring in the entirety of both games.
