Born on 20 June 2001 in Olhão, in the Algarve region of Portugal, Gonçalo Ramos got his start in football thanks to his father, a footballer, who introduced him to the world of football by force of circumstance. Even as a youngster, Ramos made quite the impression. Starting out as a midfielder, he scored 30 goals a season, quickly distinguishing himself from the other toddlers, and then moved up the ranks at the speed of light. At the age of 12, he joined Benfica's youth academy, having been rejected by... Sporting a few years earlier. With the Lisbon club, the Portuguese striker was a real eye-catcher. A consistent performer, he made 46 appearances in all competitions in 2021-2022, then 47 the following season, his most prolific in terms of appearances, with a yield of 27 goals and 12 assists.
In 2022/2023, O Pistoleiro crossed paths with Paris Saint-Germain on the European stage. He scored 7 goals in 14 Champions League appearances for Benfica that campaign, only to be denied by eventual finalists Inter Milan in the quarter-finals. What better way to make a name for yourself than by shining in continental competition? Not only that, in the 22/23 season, marked by the World Cup in Qatar, Gonçalo Ramos exploded onto the international scene with his national team. He scored a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-1 win over Switzerland in the Round of 16, his second, third and fourth goals for the Seleção. These feats attracted interest, and in the end it was with Paris that the young striker decided to give a new impetus to his career during the 2023 summer transfer window.
