Vitor Machado Ferreira, nicknamed Vitinha, was born in Santo Tirso in the Porto suburbs, and joined his hometown club’s youth academy aged just 11. He helped them to a UEFA Youth League triumph in 2019, and was named Player of the Toulon Tournament and reached the U19 EURO final with Portugal.
After making his first-team debut for Porto, he joined English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan before returning to become a key part of Sergio Conceição’s side. He was integral to their league-cup double last season, and earned himself a call-up to the senior Portugal team.
Named the Portuguese league's Young Player of the Year, he joined Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year deal, becoming — aged just 22 — the first signing of the 2022/23 summer transfer window.
