Mikky and Sander in the running

This Friday, the International Handball Federation (IHF) published the list of nominees for the title of World Player of the Year 2019. Two Parisians are on the list!

The first is none other than Mikkel Hansen. The Danish international started his year perfectly, playing a key role as Denmark triumphed in home soil at the 2019 World Cup. The left-back even finished top scorer (with 72 goals and 37 assists) and best player in the competition. At the other end of the season, Mikky was once again excellent, taking the Lidl Star League's Player of the Month award for November. In the meantime, he proved unstoppable for opposing defences, mixing the efficient and spectacular on both the European and French stages!

While he was part of the Velux EHF Champions League's Best 7 for 2019, this time Mikky was accompanied by Sander Sagosen, who turned in some great performances at the end of the calendar year. No wonder he is in the race to be named the best player in the world! He too had a very nice World Cup, helping Norway all the way to the final with 51 goals and 47 assists. With 64 goals in the league and the Champions League (in which he finished top scorer for Les Rouge et Bleus) in 2019-2020, the Parisian midfielder went from strength to strength over the past year.

The other nominees are Rasmus Lauge Schmidt (Denmark/Flensburg), Luka Cindric (Croatia/Kielce), Niklas Landin (Denmark/Kiel). You can vote now! You have until 19 July to make your choice!
