Mikkel Hansen: 'Still exceptional moments to have with this club'

Press releases

The Parisian left-back will return to Denmark at the end of his contract. In July 2022, he will join Aalborg.

In Paris in the summer of 2012, Mikkel Hansen has decided to pursue the next stage of his career in his homeland in order to be as close as possible to his family. With Paris Saint-Germain Handball, he has so far won seven French league titles, the Coupes de la Ligue, three Coupe de France and four Trophées des Champions. In parallel, he has proudly worn the colours of Denmark, winning two World Championship titles as well as Olympic gold. His typically high-level performances during his tenure in the Rouge et Bleu have seen him twice named IHF World Player of the Year (2015 and 2018).

"SINCE MY ARRIVAL IN 2012, MY AFFECTION FOR SAINT-GERMAIN AND THE CITY HAS BECOME INDELIBLE," SAID MIKKEL HANSEN IN THE WAKE OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT. "I AM DEEPLY GRATEFUL TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACCOMPANIED ME AND WITH WHOM I WORK WITH EVERY DAY AT THE CLUB. WEARING THE PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HADNBALL JERSEY HAS BEEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROJECTS IN MODERN SPORTS. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE EXCEPTIONAL MOMENTS WE HAVE SHARED AND I AM CONVINCED THAT THE NEXT 17 MONTHS WILL ALLOW US TO EXPERIENCE THEM AGAIN. THEN IT WILL BE TIME TO GO HOME AND OPEN A NEW CHAPTER IN MY CAREER."

Just before his 35th birthday, the top scorer in the history of Paris Saint-Germain Handball will be playing for the fifth and, perhaps, last club of his prolific career.
