Five Parisians honoured at the NHL Trophies

Crowned Champions of France for the seventh time in club history (and a sixth time in a row), Paris Saint-Germain Handball have seen several of their players rewarded by the NHL for their great performances.

Sander Sagosen (best centre-half/best player)

It's a double gong for the Norwegian international! After being named best centre-half in 2018-2019, Sander did it again by winning this award. But he didn't stop there! His superb performances (64 goals in 16 appearances) also earned him the title of best player in the Lidl StarLigue in season 2019-2020. A very nice distinction for the Norwegian, who had claimed the player of the month gong in February. Among his fine performances, we will remember his 22 goals scored in one week, at home to Créteil (39-26) and then away to Nantes (29-29). This season Sander won a third Lidl StarLigue title in as many seasons spent in the French capital.

Rodrigo Corrales (best goalkeeper)

Once again this season, a great number of attackers have crashed into the brick wall that is Rodrigo. Aix-en-Provence's forwards have particularly bitter memories of their encounter with the Parisian shot-stopper: at the Arena du Pays d'Aix, our Spaniard won 18 of his duels with the opposing forwards. On occasion he has also managed to combine this efficiency with the spectacular, such as his sublime stop to deny Nantes pivot Nicolas Tournat at the buzzer. Over the season as a whole, he made 130 saves! During his three years in Paris, Rodri developed into one of the best goalkeepers in our championship - and the 2019-2020 season is no exception.

Viran Morros (best defender)

That Rodrigo Corrales was so effective in front of goal owes more than a little something to his stalwart compatriot, Viran Morros. The Spanish international once again proved his worth in the physical duels that pitted him against the pointy end of the French handball elite. His power, self-sacrifice and generosity enabled him to recover possession and create decisive situations for our counter-attackers. He even managed to score a few times, ending the season with a very respectable seven goals from eight attempts.

Nedim Remili (best right-back)

At just 24 years old, Nedim Remili has shone again! Despite an ankle injury that kept him off the court for several weeks at the end of 2019, our right-back had a great season and finished with 68 goals (including 15 pealties). His best offensive performance came on in the 28031 win away to Nîmes in Round 5 on 3 October. That evening, he was razor-sharp in front of the USAM goal and left the Parnassus with ten goals (from 15 attempts). No surprise then that Nedim claims the title of best right-back in our championship!

Raul Gonzalez (best coach)

For his second season at the head of Paris Saint-Germain Handball, Raul Gonzalez won his second French Championship title! It is thus not surprising to see him named as the best coach in the Lidl StarLigue. A trophy that rewards his excellent work, carried out with the staunch support of assistant coach Jesus Gonzalez.

It should be noted that the players, who reacted on the Lidl StarLigue's social networks, all spared a thought for the medical professionals currently working in the fight against COVID-19.
