Nedim Remili: 'I've been dreading this moment'

Ahead of the Coupe de France final, Nedim Remili spoke about his last league match and the final itself, but also his farewell to Paris.

Saying goodbye to Coubertin means saying goodbye to a big part of your life?

"I've been dreading this moment. It's been six years since I arrived here, I arrived very young at 21. I've been lucky enough to work with my idols - the biggest stars in our sport - and an exceptional coaching staff. I would like to thank my family too, I will never forget what they did for me. I leave here as a man."

How was the final league match against Créteil at Coubertin from an emotional point of view?

"It's hard to go through these moments because we have a history, we meet great people, we live great moments. Of course, it's hard for me to leave this club that I love so much. I'm going to miss you all, it's a great club, with people I love."

It was nice to finish with a home win and a new record...

"Congratulations to everyone, to all the people who work for this club. It's a source of real pride to be part of the history of Paris Saint-Germain and the league in general. I don't know whether it will ever be done again."

Finishing with a win against Nantes in the final would be the perfect ending, wouldn't it?

"Yeah, that would be the perfect ending. We only have 5-6 losses this season, that's a great record. This Saturday against Nantes, it's going to be hard because they came second in the league. Nantes have been very good in recent years. They are often in Europe. It's the kind of match you really want to play, and at the Accor Hotel Arena, which will be packed full of die-hard fans, so it will be a great handball party."

Is the Accor Hotel Arena an important venue for you?

"I have won two titles there. A Coupe de France, but also a world championship title in 2017. It's the legendary venue of French handball. I remember when I was little, when we went there to see France play. I had chills at every match. For me, this venue is phenomenal and I hope I can finish my story in France in the best way possible - by winning this title."

Have you met many people here who mean a lot to you?

"Thanks to all the people you don't see who work around us in the offices. A big thank you to Kiki [Christophe Dubois, our physio] too.
He has gotten me back on my feet many times. I got injured, I was told I might not be able to shoot anymore, but he saved me. He is so important to this club, he is a great person with a heart of gold. A big thank you to all the staff for everything they have given me. Thank you also to all the PSG fans. I've been here for six years and you don't know how much strength you have given us. All the times when, thanks to you, we have outdone ourselves to win matches and achieve crazy results, frankly thank you, you are the soul of this club."
