Paris Saint-Germain honoured at the UNFP's 2022 awards
The 30th edition of the Trophées UNFP du Football, which took place on Sunday evening at the Pavillon Gabriel in Paris, rewarded several members of Paris Saint-Germain’s men's and women's teams. Kylian Mbappé and Marie-Antoinette Katoto, both top scorers in their respective leagues, were named Player of the 2021-2022 Season.
Kylian Mbappé – PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Kylian Mbappé won Ligue 1's Player of the Season award for the third consecutive time. In what has been an exceptional season, the Parisian striker has scored 25 goals and provided 19 assists in 34 Ligue 1 matches. Having already been voted Young Player of the Season in Ligue 1 on three occasions (2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019), Mbappé could become the first player to achieve the feat of being the top goalscorer and top assist-provider in the French league in the same season.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto – PLAYER OF THE SEASON
After winning the title of Young Player of the Season twice (in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019), Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top scorer has been named Player of the Season in D1 Arkema. With two games remaining in the league, the 23-year-old striker leads the scoring charts with 18 goals. Marie-Antoinette Katoto succeeds another Parisian, Kadidiatou Diani.
Gianluigi Donnarumma - GOALKEEPER OF THE SEASON
Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named Goalkeeper of the Season in Ligue 1 in his first season at Paris Saint-Germain. The Italian international succeeds his teammate Keylor Navas. After being voted Player of the Tournament at EURO 2020 and winning the Yashin Trophy, the 23-year-old Parisian goalkeeper has won another individual award.
Laurina Fazer – YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Laurina Fazer, aged just 18, has won the first individual title of her career tonight, succeeding her Rouge et Bleu teammate Sandy Baltimore. A Paris Saint-Germain women’s team player has now won the Young Player of the Season award for the fourth consecutive season (after Marie-Antoinette Katoto in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, then Sandy Baltimore in 2020-2021).
FOUR MEN'S TEAM PLAYERS IN THE TEAM OF THE SEASON
Alongside Kylian Mbappé and Gianluigi Donnarumma, two other Paris Saint-Germain men's team players feature in this season's Ligue 1 Team of the Season. Marquinhos, who has scored five goals in 31 games this season, has been named in the best 11 for the third time in a row. Nuno Mendes, who was nominated for the Young Player of the Season award, has been named as best left-back at just 19 years old.
SeVEN WOMEN'S TEAM PLAYERS IN THE TEAM OF THE SEASON
Like last season, seven players from Paris Saint-Germain's women's team have been named in the D1 Arkema squad for the 2021-2022 season. The capital club are the most represented team, with three defenders (Sakina Karchaoui, Ashley Lawrence and Paulina Dudek), two midfielders (Grace Geyoro and Sara Däbritz) and two strikers (Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani).
