Nothing to separate Spain and Germany

Carlos Soler’s and Pablo Sarabia’s Spain had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Germany in their second group game at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Four days after getting up and running with a sensational 7-0 win over Keylor Navas's Costa Rica, to which Paris's Carlos Soler contributed with a 90th-minute goal, Luis Enrique's side came up against Germany on Sunday evening, with their opponents having been stunned by a 2-1 loss to Japan in their opening game. The two European nations certainly gave us a high-intensity encounter, but, despite La Roja having an avalanche of chances and clearly dominating the possession, the Germans managed to stay in the game after their hard work led them to an equaliser.

Our two Rouge et Bleu players, Carlos Soler and Pablo Sarabia, were unused substitutes in this fixture.

A grand finale for a place in the next round now awaits Spain, who stay top of Group E, just one point ahead of their direct competitors and three ahead of Die Nationalmannschaft after last night's draw, with their next and final group game coming against Japan on Thursday at 20:00 CET.
