Luana: 'Believe in our chances'
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder wants her team to have faith in their own ability in this weekend's crunch clash with Lyon.
Luana, how would you rate the team's start to the season?
"Pre-season was difficult, we had to keep ourselves in shape on our own. We played the Champions League and the league started shortly after. That required a lot of physical effort for us, but we managed to get back into shape. I don't think we're at our best, because we still have to adapt to a lot of constraints, but it's encouraging."
What has changed since last season?
"I think we've developed a lot mentally. The defeat to Lyon in the Champions League semi-final was very difficult to accept. We talked a lot after that about what we could do better, about what could be improved. We're also more consistent and the new season has brought a new spirit, new challenges, and that has motivated us a lot."
The gap between Lyon and Paris has closed a lot...
"The recent games against Lyon were very good. We played really well and didn't concede a lot of goals. The Champions League game was decided on a set-piece. When you play at this level, it's the small details that make all the difference. We have the qualities to face up to this team. We have to believe in our chances, work hard, and we'll get there. We need to create more goalscoring chances, and above all take them when we get them. That's the key against such a team."
