Gérard Prêcheur: "This was a good, successful pre-season"

Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team head coach Gérard Prêcheur as well as Sandy Baltimore discussed last night’s 2-1 win over AC Milan in the 2023 AMOS Women’s French Cup final at the Stade Michel Bendichou in Colomiers.

Gérard Prêcheur:

"It's very satisfying to have won, especially as we needed it. Paris Saint-Germain needs trophies, so we'll take it. This is a great tournament, and we've won it by playing very well. What I enjoyed the most was that the players kept that unity in their style of play, even when we swapped out eight or nine players and changed the tactical setup.

"This was a good, successful pre-season. There's been some real improvement since the game away to Le Havre, where we struggled, and that's normal. Adapting to a new playing style isn't easy. We responded well against Eindhoven, improved against Montpellier and struggled a little bit more against Liverpool, but today, the girls reacted perfectly. This has been a good pre-season."

sandy baltimore:

"For my first goal, when Lieke lined up her shot, I told myself that the goalkeeper would drop it, and that's what she did, so I followed it up and scored. For my second, Saki [Karchaoui] ran down the wing and crossed it in, so I had to get my head on the end of it.

"Collectively, we've worked hard since the start of pre-season. You could see it in this game, as we played well in the first half. The second half was a bit tougher, but overall, we stuck together and it went well in the end!"
