Gérard Prêcheur: 'It's a prestigious match'

On the eve of the Trophée des Championnes match against Olympique Lyonnais, the Paris Saint-Germain Women's Coach Gérard Prêcheur answered questions from PSG TV and the media. Extracts.

THE MATCH AGAINST Lyon

"It's a great fixture. As a coach, it's my second Women's Trophée des Championnes, so I am going into it with a lot of joy. It's a privilege to experience it for a second time. It's a prestigious match. The club's image is at stake, and there's this wonderful rivalry with Olympique Lyonnais. It's a fantastic way to kick off the season."

AN UPDATE ON THE SQUAD

"Marie-Antoinette Katoto will not be involved. It would be premature to ask her to play. Apart from her, all the girls are vying to be on the team sheet. However, we still need to manage the return of those that were on international duty. I thought that they showed a lot of energy during the AMOS Women's Cup, and I'm pleased with that. Tomorrow will be a big test. Liverpool and AC Milan were two quality opponents, but now we're stepping up a level against OL. This match will be a good way to assess the team in all areas of the game."

ThE TEAM'S DyNAMIC

"The team spirit is good. There's a back-to-school atmosphere where everyone is happy. We have new players who have worked very well during pre-season, with smiles on their faces. There's a good mentality, and I believe that was evident during the summer preparation. There's always this power struggle between Lyon and Paris. We'll see how we can succeed where we failed last year. We need to be objective: last season, OL were better than us, winning three out of our four encounters. They were stronger than us, which is why I have focused all my thoughts on the areas of the game where we can improve."
