All you need to know about Kiel - PSG Handball

On Thursday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball put their EHF Champions League future on the line. Away to Kiel, the Parisians will be out to book a spot in the Final4!

THE FIRST LEG

The first leg of the tie a week ago was a tight affair right up to the end, and the resulting draw was a fair result (30-30). After falling behind by five goals, Les Rouge et Bleu made up the deficit, with Benoit Koundkoud equalising with thirty seconds left. They then had to block a free throw from Sander Sagosen on the buzzer.

THE DUELS

Raul Gonzalez's side will be looking to muzzle the Germany club's main weapons in their bid to qualify. In the first leg, the danger for Kiel came from Sander Sagosen (Parisian between 2017 and 2020) and Hendrik Pekeler, who scored six and five goals respectively. The Parisians will have to rely on Nedim Remili, who scored 8 from 9 and Kamil Syprzak (seven goals).

THE SCENARIOS

Several scenarios are available to Paris for a qualification. The most obvious: winning. With a win by any score, Paris Saint-Germain Handball would qualify, having drawn on and won one in the double header. They could also settle for another draw. But the conditions are a bit more complex: in this case, the players of the capital would have score more than 30 times. Any drawn scoreline from 31-31 upward, and our players will go to Cologne.

THE OTHER MATCHES

Montpellier will have to make up for their 28-31 defeat in the first leg when they travel to Kielce. Barcelona, with the advantage gained last week at Flensburg, will try to confirm at home, while Veszprém are in a strong position after their 36-29 home win over Aalborg.
