Raul Gonzalez: 'The switch to 5-1 worked'

On Wednesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball played host to Meshkov Brest in their EHF Champions League Matchday 12 clash. Raul Gonzalez, Benoît Kounkoud and Viran Morros gave is their thoughts on the Parisian victory (33-26).

Raul Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball coach): "In the first half, we had some problems against Stas Skube. We then managed to solve this problem by going to 5-1. The defense was better and we were able to score on counter-attacks and quick engagements. Brest are a good team who played very well. We have to keep climbing in the standings. We are happy because we have a lot of games to play. Everybody is doing well and we are going to move up."

Viran Morros (Paris St. Germain Handball left-back): "We had a good match. The second half was difficult, but we were stronger defensively at the end of the game. It's an important victory! Sometimes I score, but that's not my job [laughs]. There are still a lot of matches to play. You have to keep going and not give up. I help the team in defence, but when I get a chance to switch to attack, I take it. Today it worked out and I bagged two."

Benoît Kounkoud (Paris Saint-Germain Handball right-winger): "It was a complicated match. Brest are a good team, who beat Kielce last week. So we knew we had a tough customer in front of us. We wanted to be focussed for all 60 minutes. I think we put in a good performance. We play games to win them, but you also have to look at the standings. We have a pretty varied group in terms of results. Anything can happen. It was an important match. All of our matches are finals, in a bid to finish as high up the table as possible. Now, we're concentrating what's to come."
