Preview: 5 things about Toulouse - Paris

Paris Saint-Germain Handball travel to Tolouse on Sunday as part of Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 12. Here are five key facts about the match.

1 - THE TABLE

Toulouse have made a solid start to the season and currently occupy fourth place on the Liqui Moly StarLigue table. Danijel Andjelkovic's men are just four points behind the capital club, but last week saw their run of seven consecutive wins come to an end with a 33-32 defeat at Chambéry.

Les Rouge et Bleu, meanwhile, continued their unbeaten run in the league this season with a crucial 31-27 win over Montpellier in Round 11. With this win, Raul Gonzalez's men extended their lead at the top of the Liqui Moly StarLigue, leaving them three points clear of Nantes and Montpellier.

2 - WIDE MEN: TOULOUSAINS' MAJOR ASSET

A true club legend, Nemanja Ilic is in fine form at the start of the season and is fourth on the Liqui Moly StarLigue scorers chart with 75 goals. The Serb, who has been with Le Fenix since 2013, has scored 17 goals in his last two games, against Ivry (34-26) and at Chambéry (33-32). He will undoubtedly be one of the biggest threats to the Parisian rearguard. As recently as last season, the left winger had a great game against Raul Gonzalez's men, scoring 9 goals from 9 attempts. At the other end of the court, the Parisians will be up against right winger Edouard Kempf, who came through the ranks at the capital club and played for Les Rouge et Bleu between 2016 and 2020.

3 - AN IRONCLAD DEFENCE

In addition to their attacking efficiency, Toulouse can also rely on an impregnable defence. With 283 goals conceded in the first 11 rounds of the season, Fenix have the third-best defence in the league. During their run of seven consecutive victories, the team from the west of France have shown great defensive solidity, notably at Cesson-Rennes (24-32) and Saran (23-33).

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

A regular fixture in the French championship, meetings between Toulouse and Paris are often colourful but usually end in victory for the capital club: Les Rouge et Bleu have a record of 20 wins to two defeats and one draw. Last season, Raul Gonzalez's men lost at the Palais des Sports André Brouat, ending a run of 35 consecutive league wins against Le Fenix, so they will be keen to avoid the trap and leave Toulouse with two points.
