Luka Karabatic calls time on international career

Luka Karabatic, captain of Paris Saint-Germain Handball, has decided to retire from international competition.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of French handball. After 171 caps and 14 years of contributing to the glory and numerous successes of the French team, Luka Karabatic decided on Tuesday to call an end to his international career. France captain for many years, he established himself over the seasons as a key factor in Les Bleus' success, crucial to the team both on and off the court.

Last January, Luka won the ninth international medal of his career by taking bronze at the World Championships - the latest achievement that saw him demonstrate the extent of his talent. Just check out his majestic goal on the buzzer against Egypt in the quarter-finals (34-33) - his 181st and final goal in the blue shirt.

Since his first cap, against Argentina on 8 January 2011, the current Paris Saint-Germain Handball captain has grown into the leader we all know. A European champion, a two-time world champion and a gold medallist at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the Parisian pivot bows out of international handball with one of the greatest track records in the history of the French team.

Paris Saint-Germain would like to congratulate Luka Karabatic on his superbly successful career with Les Bleus.
