Jannick Green's Denmark on top of the world

In an electric atmosphere at the Utility Arena in Oslo, Denmark made a little more handball history on Sunday. Nikolaj Jakobsen's men came from behind to beat a Croatia side featuring future Parisian Mateo Maraš 32-26. Winning by at least six points in each of their nine games at this World Cup, Denmark claimed their fourth consecutivce title with a perfect record, reinfocring their dominance of world handball just months after their triumph at the Olympic Games in Paris. Jannick Green, who was called up during the competition, won his second World Championship title after the one he helped clinch at home against Norway in 2019.

Les Bleus take bronze

With a place on the podium at stake, the match between France and Portugal ensured a spectacular opening to the final day of the World Championship. Ahead at the break (19-17), Guillaume Gille's men had to fight until the last second to overcome one of the tournament's surprise packages. Luka Karabatic, Mathieu Grébille and Elohim Prandi, who scored three goals, finished on a high note before returning to the capital club.

Now that the international break is over, it's time for club competition to return, with the first top-of-the-table clash in the second half of the season taking place on Saturday. In the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, the capital club will play host to Nantes in a rematch of last season's final. It's a match not to be missed as the year gets off to a flying start at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.
