Dainis Kristopans: 'Everything is still possible'

With Dainis Kristopans' Wednesday reunion with former club Vardar Skopje in EHF Champions League Matchday 6 action has been postponed, the Latvian right-back looked back on his side's last match - and ahead to the Parisians' upcoming clashes.

Psg.fr: How do you explain your defeat against Kielce (35-33)?
Dainis Kristopans: We knew that Kielce are a strong team and that it would be difficult to win against them, especially away from home. We alternated good spells and bad spells. We had control of the game, but then we had some defensive problems.

Did the injury anbsences cost you dearly?
We also had a few absentees, especially ion the half-centre position. The pace was fast and we didn't have a lot of room for change. We also made a few mistakes...

Do you think it's already too late to finish in the top two spots in the group?
I don't think so! We have to continue our efforts. The situation of the group can change quickly. Since the beginning, every team can beat any team. The underdogs have already got up against the favourites. Everything is still possible!

On Wednesday, you were going face Vardar Skopje. Are you sad not to have faced your old club again?
Yes, we had already started to prepare for this match and spent a lot of time on it. We were ready! The problem is that there are a lot of postponed matches and we don't have many opportunities to replace them. We're going to have a lot of games to play in a short period of time.

How have you been feeling on this team since your arrival?
I feel great! We've spent a lot of time together on the court. We've made good progress, but we can still do better. We're going to keep improving. I'm also happy to be in Paris, even though it's a bit complicated sometimes with the health crisis. It is difficult to go out and take risks that could put the health of the team at risk.

How is your French learning going?
I have started taking lessons. It's difficult... I need a little more time! I'm making progress, but it's a complicated language.
