Champions League All-star team: Paris well represented

The EHF yesterday unveiled the list of 50 players who are eligible for a place in the Champions League's top team.

With six Parisians in the running, Paris Saint-Germain Handball is the third-most represented club in this pre-selection.

First of all, we find Sander Sagosen. Freshly elected best centre-half and MVP in the Lidl Starligue, the Norwegian was the coaches' unanimous number one choice for left-back. This season he scored a club-high 64 goals on the European stage.

Mikkel Hansen, nominated and elected last season as playmaker, is back once again. Together with Tibur Dibirov (Vardar Skopje), they are the only two players from the 2018-19 All-star squad to be back in contention this year.

Nedim Remili completes the Parisian back-line trio. The leftie - despite being out of action for several weeks after a sprained ankle - managed to score 45 times in the Champions League. A heavyweight in the Parisian attack, Remili has already won acclaim in the Lidl StarLigue.

In the pivot position, Kamil Syprzak makes a remarkable entrance with Paris Saint-Germain. The 2.07m tall Pole has always been able to make room in opposing defences to score goals that it's hardtop imagine anyone else scoring (46 goals in EHFCL). Just like the gem he managed to score on the domestic stage:

Nor is it surprising to see Viran Morros among the five players eligible for the title of best defender. At almost 37 years of age, the Spanish fullback is the most experienced and has shown that once again this season with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring nine Champions League goals in the process.

Finally, Raul Gonzalez, in his second year at the helm of the club, has the opportunity to be voted the best coach of the competition - a status he has just obtained in the Lidl StarLigue after the awarding of the NHL trophies last night.

Head over to the EHF website to vote for your Parisian players and select your 2019-2020 Champions League team. (Voting is open until Thursday, June 11th at 12:00pm)
