Verratti: 'Winning is never easy'

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder looks back at the Coupe de France semi-final victory over Nantes and ahead to the Week 32 Ligue 1 clash away to Lille, this Sunday at 21:00 CET at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Marco, you scored an important goal against Nantes (3-0)...
"Yes, it was the first goal in a Cup semi-final so it was obviously an important goal. It's never easy to reach the final. These are great matches. Football is magnificent because so many different things can happen. It's not always the same teams that win."

Do you remember your nine goals for Paris?
"Yes, I remember every goal. The first was against Barcelona. It was unusual because it was a header and not the easiest way to score my first goal for Paris! It's my favourite goal. It was an important match and we won. All nine goals I scored were at the Parc des Princes. I prefer scoring at home, in front of our fans."

Is this Coupe de France final more important than previous years?
"I think a final and a trophy always have a special feeling. It's not because we didn't win the Coupe de la Ligue that the final of the Coupe de France is different. We always play to reach our goals. We are Paris Saint-Germain and have an obligation to do our best in each and every game. It's an important match. People are used to us winning now, but in 15 or 20 years, maybe we won't win every trophy. Winning trophies is never easy. And wearing the Rouge et Bleu in a final is always a great feeling."

Paris Saint-Germain can be crowned champions on Sunday...
"We want to win the league. There are a lot of matches in a season and we need to win them. It's never easy. Paris Saint-Germain have built a great team, with great players, but that doesn't mean winning the league is easy. We are just normal people that work very hard for our success."

What do you think of Lille's season?
"I'm happy for them and their coach Christophe Galtier. We have played against him a lot and I admire him. He is always smiling, he's a good man. Last year, Lille had a very tough season, it wasn't easy for them and they were almost relegated. They have a fantastic campaign this year and they have a big future. We need to be very focused because it will be a very difficult match. They are very strong at home. We need to attack and control the game."

After you career, how do you think you wil look back at this time?
"When you play football, when you are successful, you don't always have the time to enjoy it as much as you should. When you win, or you lose, you always have another game, new objectives. When you retire, and you see your old teammates, you can look back at what you did, or what you didn't do or what you should have done better, or differently. I hope it will be the same for the supporters. I say it again, people think it's easy for us, but winning the championship every year and the Cups doesn't happen that often... even if I hope Paris keep winning..."
