Match in numbers

Check out the second part of our look at the key stats and highlights from the 2022-23, which saw the Parisians lift a record 11th Ligue 1 trophy.

THE TWO PARISIANS AT THE TOP OF FRENCH FOOTBALL

Marco Verratti (nine titles) and Marquinhos (eight titles) have this season each won another French league title with Paris Saint-Germain, making them the most successful players in the history of French football. The two Parisians are ahead of Saint-Etienne's Jean-Michel Larqué and Hervé Revelli, Lyon's Juninho, Grégory Coupet and Sidney Govou and former Paris team-mate Thiago Silva, all of who have won the Ligue 1 title on seven occasions.

TWO ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS

Among the players with a minimum of 1,000 passes attempted in the league this season, Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian captain is the player with the highest percentage of successful passes in the top flight, at 95.4%. As for his Italian midfield colleague, Verratti is the player who has had the most possessions per game on average in the league this season, with 101.1.

AN ICONIC DUO

The two Parisian players have featured on the same team sheet for Les Rouge et Bleu in 266 matches. Their adventure together got off to the best possible start on 17 September 2013, when they beat Olympiakos 1-4 in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Eleven days later, Marco Verratti made his first assist for Marquinhos in a 2-0 win over Toulouse FC at the Parc des Princes: the start of a successful partnership.

During their time together at the capital club, the Parisian duo have racked up 185 wins, 48 draws and just 33 defeats. Ten seasons dotted with triumphant successes, as evidenced by the 27 trophies they have lifted in unison with a host of celebrated Parisian teammates.

MARQUI AND MARCO: THE 400 CLUB

Paris Saint-Germain's two iconic players each passed the 400-match mark in a Paris shirt this season.

Marco Verratti (415) and Marquinhos (406) now rank second and third respectively in the list of most-capped players with Paris, behind Jean-Marc Pilorget (435). Are the two team-mates aiming for a new record?
