Verratti and Italy crowned kings of Europe!

Italy were crowned European Champions after winning Euro 2020 on a penalty shootout against England at Wembley on Sunday 11 July 2021.

Marco Verratti took home his first trophy with the Squadra Azzura, after playing almost all of the encounter, which went all the way to a penalty shootout.

Shaw opened the scoring for England at the very start of the encounter (0-1, 2'), before Leonardo Bonucci equalised for the Italians in the second half (1-1, 67').

It was in the dreaded penalty shootout that Italy came out on top, with particular thanks to Donnarumma, who pushed away Saka's penalty to take home the title for Italy.
