Stats & Facts (1/3): Paris leaders on all fronts

Match in numbers

Check out the first part of our round-up of key stats and highlights from season 2022-2023, which saw the Parisians lift an historic 11th league title.

PARIS IN THE HISTORY BOOKS

By being crowned French champions in 2023, Paris Saint-Germain clinched their 11th title following those of 1986, 1994, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. In doing so, the capital club set a new record in the history of the championship, surpassing AS Saint-Étienne's ten titles and taking sole possession of top spot.

Paris are also the first team in French football history to have topped the standings from the first round of the season to the last. What's more, Les Rouge et Bleu had been in the lead since Round 3 of the previous season, taking their number of consecutive rounds at the top of the Ligue 1 standings to 74 matches.

AN UNPREDICTABLE ATTACK

This year, the Parisian attack diversified. Paris have scored the most goals from outside the box in Ligue 1, with ten. And while they are clearly formidable at shooting from distance, Les Rouge et Bleu have more than just one string to their bow. In fact, they also scored ten goals on counter-attacks in the league this season - more than hat's more than any other team.

DES SéRIES RECORDS à DOMICILE COMME à L'EXTéRIEUR

The Parisians extended an unbeaten run at the Parc des Princes to 40 consecutive matches in all competitions, ending in February 2023 (33 wins, seven draws). It is the second-longest such streak in the club's history after April 2016-February 2018 (51).

Away from home, Paris Saint-Germain also showed plenty of character. Between August and October 2022, they kept five consecutive away clean sheets in Ligue 1. In doing so, Les Rouge et Bleu equalled their longest such streak away from home in the elite (also five, in September-November 2003 and December 2015-January 2016).

And when it comes to unbeaten runs, between March 2022 and January 2023, Paris Saint-Germain racked up 32 consecutive matches without defeat in all competitions (25 wins, seven draws). This is the third-best such run in the club's history, after August 1993-April 1994 (37) and March-December 2013 (36).

It is also worth noting that, with six wins from as many games, the capital club showed no mercy to the division's promoted teams this season. Against the three top-flight newcomers - Toulouse, Ajaccio and Auxerre - Paris scored 20 goals and conceded just two.

COMING IN CLUTCH

This season, Parisians scored no fewer than 20 goals in the final quarter of an hour of league matches. That's at least three more than any other team, which just goes to show how tenacious the Parisian team can be. In total, Les Rouge et Bleu picked up 11 points thanks to goals scored after the 80th minute in Ligue 1 this season - again, the highest total in the division.
