Stats & Facts: A look back at the Coupe de France final

After Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 victory over Stade de Reims at the Stade de France yesterday, here are the standout statistics and events from the Coupe de France final.

record-breaking Paris

With a comfortable victory over Reims in Saint-Denis last night, Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de France for the 16th time in their history, at least six more than any other team (10 for Olympique de Marseille). It is also the 54th title in the capital club's history, again an all-time record in France. Meanwhile, by winning his eighth CDF trophy (following on from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2024), Les Rouge et Bleu captain Marquinhos has improved on his own record in this respect.

This was the 21st Coupe de France final in the club's history, with a record of 16 wins and five defeats. Also winners of the Trophée des Champions and Ligue 1, the club has now won at least three titles in a single season for the eighth time since its creation, after 2013–2014 (three titles won), 2014–2015 (four titles won), 2015–2016 (four titles won), 2016–2017 (three titles won), 2017–2018 (four titles won), 2019–2020 (four titles won) and 2023–2024 (three titles won).

As a two-time Ligue 1–winning coach and a two-time winner of both the Trophée des Champions and the Coupe de France, Paris Saint-Germain first-team boss Luis Enrique has become the first coach to win every domestic title on offer in their first two seasons in France. The Spaniard has also won all 10 single-match finals in which he has coached in his career (six with Barcelona and four with Paris).

CHAMPAGNE Paris

Toulouse's 5-1 thrashing of Nantes in the 2023 edition of this fixture is the only other Coupe de France final that a team has won by at least three goals in the 21st century, while last night's encounter is also only the fourth CDF final in which a team has led by three goals at half-time since the end of World War II.

PARIS ON THE ATTACK

By scoring two goals and assisting in one other at the Stade de France, Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola is the second player to be involved in three goals in the same Coupe de France final in the 21st century, thereby following in the footsteps of former Rouge et Bleu striker Zlatan Ibrahimović, who achieved this feat in exactly the same fashion against Marseille in 2016. Barcola has also equalled the highest total number of goal involvements recorded across all editions of this fixture since 2001 (three for the Swede as well as for Neymar Jr, Ángel Di María, Edinson Cavani and Djibril Cissé).

In addition to this, the France international bagged at least one goal and one assist in the same match for the eighth time across all competitions this season, with only Liverpool FC attacker Mohamed Salah boasting a higher total in Europe's top five leagues in this regard (13).

Meanwhile, at 19 years and 355 days old, Paris forward Désiré Doué has become the youngest player to be involved in at least two goals in a Coupe de France final in the 21st century, having provided his 12th and 13th assists of the season across all competitions yesterday, with 11 of those 13 assists coming in 2025 alone.

With two goals from Barcola and two assists from Doué, last night was the first time that the same duo had combined for two goals in a Coupe de France final in the 21st century. In fact, with Ousmane Dembélé currently sitting on 44 goal involvements, Barcola on 38 and Doué on 26, Paris Saint-Germain now have three players involved in at least 25 goals across all competitions this season.

Finally, as the scorer of the third goal of the game in Saint-Denis, the capital club's right-back Achraf Hakimi has now contributed to 20 goals across all competitions in 2024–2025 (scoring eight and assisting in 12), which is at least four more than any other defender in Europe's top five leagues.
