Before making the switch to Paris, Clare Hunt had played her entire career in her native Australia. In 2016, she played for Australia's capital club, Canberra United FC, and then for the Sydney University women's football team for a year. She then joined Western Sydney Wanderers in September 2021. Clare's first cap for the national team came in February 2023, in a 4-0 win over the Czech Republic in the Nations Cup. A semi-finalist at the last FIFA World Cup, held this summer in Australia and New Zealand, Hunt was included in the tournament's All-star XI and has a total of 13 caps for the Matildas. In September 2023, the Australian joined Paris Saint-Germain on a deal that ties her to the capital club until 2026.
