The Women's Team kick-off their season!

With Bruno Cheyrou, Olivier Echouafni, Irene Paredes and Kadidiatou Diani all in attendance, Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team officially launched their 2019/20 season on Friday.

Two days before Soyaux come to the Stade Jean Bouin on Sunday (kick-off 14:45CEST), Bruno Cheyrou, Olivier Echouafni, Irene Paredes and Kadidiatou Diani officially launched the new season, a post-World Cup campaign that will surely be one to remember.

"The World Cup was exceptional for France and women's football, and at Paris Saint-Germain, we're going to do all we can to benefit from that momentum," said Cheyrou, the team's General Manager. "Ten of our players were there, and a number of matches took place at the Parc des Princes, so the club was well represented. The competition was a success and French women's football must benefit from that, including the club's women's team." After a runners-up finish in the domestic top flight and qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League, ambitions and hopes are high.

"We want to improve every year," said the ex-Liverpool FC midfielder. "We want to work long term, in stability. The priority was to extend contracts, such as that of Irene Paredes, Nadia Nadim and Formiga, who have a lot of experience and influence on the team. Several players who are going to make a positive contribution to the team have joined us. They're going to reinforce the team both individually and collectively. We're going to have a magnificent 2019/20 season."

"The team's had a big pre-season," added coach Olivier Echouafni. "The squad is complete, which is ideal for a coach to work on the fundamentals. I think my players can't wait to get started on Sunday. We'll be ambitious in every competition."

That sentiment was echoed by the players. "We're really looking forward to starting the league," said Diani. "We have put in a lot of effort in pre-season. I think we're ready. We're really looking forward to the season kicking off. We have big ambitions. We want to win everything. We're going to put in all we can to win trophies."

It's an ambition shared by Paredes. "We want to win as many matches as possible and win trophies," said the Spain international. "That's why we work hard every day. We hope that there will be a lot of people in the stadiums after the World Cup. We encourage everyone to come and see us!"
