Tabitha Chawinga: "Playing in the UWCL was my dream"

The Paris Saint-Germain striker spoke about her side’s clash with AFC Ajax at 21:00 CET this Wednesday at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, on Matchday 1 of the 2023–2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage.

tabitha, this will be your first time playing in the uefa women's champions league. do you see this as an important step for you?

"Yeah, it's a very important step for me; this was my dream. Every football player's dream is to play in the Champions League, so it's very, very important for me."

WE'RE IN A GROUP WITH THREE GOOD TEAMS. WHAT WAS THE TEAM'S REACTION TO THE DRAW?

"It's a good group. Of course, many people say it's a group of death... Yeah, it's interesting. I don't think that any team playing in the Champions League is bad. Every team is good. So, we're ready for every team."

The first game is a trip to amsterdam this week. can you tell us if the team is ready for the start of the group stage?

"Oh, of course. We're training well, and we're putting in the effort in training. Everyone wants to play in the UEFA Women's Champions League, so I think it's just time to get back onto the pitch and to start to play these games."

in your opinion, what will be the team's target for this first game?

"Every team's target is to win the game, and we train to win. I believe every team works hard to win games. We're playing away this week, and I think we're ready to play and to compete."
