Tabitha Chawinga joins Paris Saint-Germain on season-long loan

Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce that Malawi international Tabitha Chawinga has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Wuhan Jianghan University until 30th June 2024.

Chawinga started out in football aged five at her hometown club of DD Sunshine in Lilongwe, Malawi. In 2014, the forward moved to Sweden, spending a year at third-tier outfit Krokom/Dvärsätts IF before moving up a division by signing for Kvarnsvedens IK. With 43 goals, Chawinga finished the 2015–2016 season as the league’s top scorer whilst also helping her side to earn promotion to the Swedish top flight.

In 2018, the Malawian joined Chinese side Jiangsu LFC, where she took home the Chinese Women’s Super League’s Player of the Year award two years in a row (in 2018 and 2019). In 2021, she moved to Wuhan Jianghan University before being loaned out to Italian club Inter Milan, where she ended last season as Serie A Femminile’s top scorer with 23 goals.

The capital club would like to wish Tabitha all the best with Les Rouge et Bleu.
