Les Parisiennes win comfortably away to Dijon

Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team earned themselves a 4-0 win away to their Dijon FCO counterparts on Matchday 15 of D1 Arkema this afternoon.

After three weeks without a competitive fixture, Les Parisiennes were back in league action away to DFCO today, as they looked to keep up their momentum and pile the pressure on fellow table-toppers Olympique Lyonnais, who were also in action this afternoon. For this game, Gérard Prêcheur lined up Grace Geyoro in central defence alongside Marina Georgieva, whilst young Manssita Traoré made her first start on the right flank of the Paris back line.

It was the capital club who dominated the possession in the first few minutes at the Stade Gaston Gérard. Despite a couple of chances for Sandy Baltimore, the home side managed to keep the ball out of their own net during the opening stages.

It wasn't until the half-hour mark that Les Parisiennes found the net. After some good pressing, Kadidiatou Diani managed to win the ball inside the Dijon box before playing it to Ramona Bachmann, who beat the opposition 'keeper (0-1, 30'). Les Rouge et Bleu then pushed for a second before the break, be it through Diani or Lieke Martens, but DFCO stood firm.

After the restart, the capital club took further control of the game. Shortly before the hour mark, Bachmann broke into the Dijon box and won a penalty, which was duly converted by Diani (0-2, 56'). Despite their two-goal lead, Gérard Prêcheur's players continue to attack the opposition goal, and it was Dutch international Jackie Groenen who forced Cecilie Sandvej into an own goal to widen the gap even further (0-3, 73').

Just a minute later, inevitable captain Diani bagged herself a brace from close range to seal the win for her side (0-4, 74'), and after controlling the last quarter of an hour, Les Parisiennes earned themselves a comfortable win on their return to competitive football in Dijon. Oriane Jean-François and co. can now turn their attentions towards the trip to Bordeaux next week in the Coupe de France quarter-finals.
