Paris Saint-Germain v. Paris FC: the derby preview
With Les Rouge et Bleue set to welcome Paris FC to PSG Campus at 21:00 CET this Saturday (Matchday 17 of the Arkema Première Ligue), here’s all you need to know about this crunch game against an in-form PFC team.
THE TWO TEAMS' CURRENT FORM
Thanks to their 2-1 victory away to Saint-Étienne last Saturday courtesy of goals from Korbin Albert and Grace Geyoro, Paris Saint-Germain's women are now on a run of six straight wins across all competitions. However, their neighbours from the other side of the French capital are also in fine form, having not lost a single match since October 2024, while PFC also made it through to the final of the Coupe de France Féminine last weekend by beating Le Havre 2-1, meaning that these two teams will face each other once more on 3rd May at the Stade de l'Épopée in Calais.
The focus will be on the Arkema Première Ligue this Saturday, though, with second place up for grabs and just one point currently separating Paris Saint-Germain and Paris FC.
THE OPPOSITION'S STRENGTHS
Paris FC will be able to rely upon an impressive strike force led by Clara Matéo, the league's top goal scorer and top assist provider this season, with 15 goals and four assists to her name in 14 appearances. Now in her eighth season in navy blue and white, the France international continues to impress and will very probably be supported on Saturday by Kessya Bussy, who is also enjoying a solid campaign, having bagged nine goals and five assists so far. Experience will undoubtedly play a part, though, with Gaëtane Thiney still racking up the appearances at 39 years old, on top of her four goals and five assists in 2024–2025.
THE HISTORY OF THE DERBY
Paris Saint-Germain haven't lost any of their last 23 league games against Paris FC, earning 16 wins and seven draws ever since a 1-0 defeat back in December 2013, while the two teams have played out three draws in their last three meetings with each other. In the reverse fixture this season, Fabrice Abriel's players were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stade Charléty, where Joe Echegini's opener was cancelled out by a late equaliser from the aforementioned Matéo.
