Oliwia Szperkowska joins Birmingham City FC on loan
Polish goalkeeper Olivia Szperkowska has joined Women’s Championship side Birmingham City FC on a season-long loan deal.
Szperkowska got her start in football at her hometown club of UKS Orzeł Wałcz, aged nine. In 2017, she signed for UKS SMS Łódź, and in April 2018, she would make her professional debut there before going on to win two trophies: the Polish first-division title in 2022 and the Polish cup in 2023. It was also with Łódź that the goalkeeper made her UEFA Women’s Champions League debut at the age of 20, before she signed for the third club of her career, KKS Czarni Sosnowiec, in the summer of 2023.
Having joined Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023–2024 winter transfer window, Szperkowska made two league appearances last season.
At international level, the Paris keeper has played for all of her country’s youth teams as well as being called up to Poland’s senior women’s team alongside her club teammate Katarzyna Kiedrzynek, although she has yet to make a competitive appearance at this level.
The club would like to wish Oliwia all the best for this season with Birmingham City.
