Olivier Echouafni: "Go and win the title"

On the eve of the matchday 16 D1 game against Lyon this Sunday May 30 at 21:00 at the Groupama Stadium, the Paris Saint-Germain women's team manager spoke to PSG TV and the rest of the media. Here's what he said.

squad

"First of all, every one tested negative. That's good news. Some players aren't at 100% but the whole squad will travel on Sunday. Marie-Antoinette Katoto trained for some of the week but we're not sure whether she's at her best. We're monitoring that. We'll give ourselves until Sunday to know whether she can start or not. Formiga got a knock against Barcelona. She's been training for about ten days but she's not 100% yet."

top of the league

"In the last few seasons we were often behind. Today we're ahead and I hope that will help us. We'll need to show that on the pitch, and the goal is not just be passive and carry on performing defensively. This season we scored 80 goals and conceded 4. Defensively and offensively we're ready. We can always score which is big. We've also been solid at the back recently especially in our last two away games at the Havre and Reims. The girls want to be rewarded for the season they've had with a trophy for the team."

state of mind

"We're at this moment of the season and to think that there is a title to win, against this great side who will want to perform well, is brilliant. So we're going to go there with the same intensity and energy we've had all season because we've been fantastic all campaign. We'll need to perform again in this game in Lyon. We're confident in our game. We know that we're capable of making the difference as a team this year and we showed it in every away game."

keys to the game

"I think that it's about the state of mind. The girls have given so much this season. They've been very courageous and worked so hard for ten months. I think that they deserve to be rewarded.  Now it's about putting it all together to make it happen. It starts with hard work as a team and being capable of giving 100% in the difficult moments. If they can do that we'll be able to get a good result in Lyon."
