Olivier Echouafni: "Do better than last season"

The coach of the Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team, Olivier Echouafni, spoke this Friday afternoon about his squad’s spirit ahead of taking on Guingamp in Round 1 of D1 Arkema.

THE STATE OF THE PLAYERS

"We still have one training session today and then we'll assess things this evening. All the players are available, there are still some uncertainties as to the match fitness of two players, but everything looks good."

AFTER THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

"We have to keep believing in our project, something we have done over the last two seasons. We feel like our level is close to that of Lyon but we still haven't been able to make things swing in our favour. It's a little bit frustrating, but we've got over frustration, and now we're completely focused on the new season. We need to correct certain things, notably when it comes to our attack."

THE RETURN OF THE LEAGUE

"It's a very good thing that the D1 is back to quickly. It means we can dive straight back into our work, and now we have an interesting fixture list as we're going to play the other two semi-finalists of the Coupe de France to start with, Guingamp and Bordeaux. Guingamp are a very structured team that's capable of beating anybody. Playing againstĀ Guingamp and Bordeaux after having played Lyon is a very good thing."

THE OBJECTIVES

"They are simple. We need to do better than last season and that means winning trophies. When you have the ambition of winning the league, you need to win your matches from the off, so as not to fall behind."
