The women's team defeat Bordeaux

Paris Saint-Germain's Women defeated Bordeaux 1-0 on Sunday to bounce back from their European disappointment.

After the disappointment of being knocked out of the UEFA Women's Champions League by Wolfsburg in midweek, Paris came up against Bordeaux, eighth in D1 Arkema, on their return to domestic duties.

Coach Gérard Prêcheur named Constance Picaud in goal with Oriane Jean-François at centre-back. Korbin Albert started in midfield with Amalie Vangsgaard joining Lieke Martens and Sandy Baltimore up front.

The hosts quickly took control of the game, and Baltimore rattled the crossbar with a shot early on. Captain Grace Geyoro came close to opening the scoring when she flashed a shot at goal on the half-hour mark only for Mylène Chavas to save and keep the scoreline goalless at the break.

The Rouge-et-Bleu emerged with the same intentions in the second half, and were rewarded for their persistence when Manssita Traoré applied the finishing touch to a Sakina Karchaoui cross from the left (1-0, 55')

Baltimore came close to doubling the lead with a fierce shot, but saw her effort saved, and Traoré brought another stop from the visiting custodian in the closing stages as Paris Saint-Germain picked up three points to keep them within touching distance of league leaders Lyon.

The Parisians have 48 points (15 wins and 3 draw) to remain a point behind OL ahead of the trip to Guingamp in two weeks' time after the international break.
