Les Parisiennes qualify for the final!

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team beat Thonon Evian GG FC 1-0 on Saturday 18 March, in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.

After their penalty shootout win at Girondins de Bordeaux in the previous round, Les Parisiennes were back in Coupe de France action, this time at home against Thonon Evian with a ticket for the final of the competition up for grabs. For the encounter, Gérard Prêcheur handed the captain's armband to Sakina Karchaoui, who was making her return to the starting eleven, while Marina Georgieva played at centre-back. Winter recruits Korbin Albert and Amalie Vangsgaard also started the encounter.

In front of the supporters in the Stade Georges Lefèvre, Les Parisiennes took control of the game from the very get go. The first chance of the match fell to Amalie Vangsgaard after a great cross from Ashley Lawrence. Despite controlling the first half an hour, Les Rouge et Bleu came up against a very compact defensive unit.

It took the quality of a long ball from Hamraoui to beat the lines of the visitors' defence, but Sandy Baltimore was denied by the goalkeeper. Lieke Martens then Korbin Albert tried their luck, but without success. The two sides therefore headed in at the break on level terms.

In the second half, the club from the capital continued to build on their domination. On the hour mark, it was Kheira Hamraoui who managed to get her side into the lead, after a smart right-footed finish (1-0, 60'). Ten minutes later, the young Korbin Albert came close to doubling the hosts lead, but her effort was deflected by a defender.

With Laurina Fazer dictating play, Gérard Prêcheur's side continued their search for a second goal as the minutes went by. Despite a final chance for substitute Jackie Groenen, who saw her effort miss the target, Les Parisiennes couldn't find the back of the net for a second time. After a professional performance, they came out on top and join Olympique Lyonnais in the final of the competition! The match will take place on Saturday 13 May at the Stade de la Source in Orléans.
