Les Parisiennes start the year in style

Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team were convincing winners at Saint-Etienne on Matchday 13 of D1 Arkema (0-5). A look back at the match!

Didier Ollé-Nicolle's side were back in D1 Arkema action on Sunday after a month away from league action. Les Parisiennes were to face the newly promoted side at the Stade Salif Keita de Saint-Etienne, a team that had given them a really good game in the first encounter of the year. For the game, the Women's Coach started with a competitive starting eleven with an attacking trio of Diani - Katoto - Baltimore and a midfield three of Hamraoui - Geyoro - Diallo. A landmark appearance for Aminata Diallo and Kheira Hamraoui who this afternoon made it 100 matches for the club.

Our Rouge et Bleu got off to a flying start with an early opportunity for Kadidiatou Diani that was perfectly dealt with by the home side's keeper (6'). Number 9 Marie-Antoinette Katoto didn't take long to make the difference and get the scoring started. After a defensive mistake, Katoto controlled and put her full power into a strike at goal (1-0, 10').

Quickly rewarded for their excellent start to the match, the Paris Saint-Germain Women's team didn't let up and continued to create numerous chances. And it was in added time of the first half that Kadidiatou Diani scored the second of the game after seeing her first strike pushed away (2-0, 45'). A goal that allowed Les Parisiennes to head in at the break with a comfortable lead.

The visitors returned for the second half with the same desire to take home the three points. From an excellent corner from Sandy Baltimore, Paulina Dudek scored a powerful header to extend their lead (3-0, 58')! In the minutes that followed, Katoto scored the fourth goal of the match after a good ball in from Sakina Karchaoui (4-0, 64').

Far from being satisfied, the forward made things worse for the hosts just minutes later. From another inch-perfect corner from Sandy Baltimore, Katoto only needed to tap the ball home (5-0, 68') and secure her hat-trick. Thanks to her brilliant performance, Marie-Antoinette Katoto is just one goal from equalling Marie-Laure Delie's record, the current top scorer in Paris Saint-Germain history. Didier Ollé-Nicolle's side continued to attack but the score remained unchanged.

Les Parisiennes were convincing winners in this encounter, with five goals scored and a clean sheet! An excellent victory ahead of the visit of Olympique Lyonnais to the Stade Jean Bouin next Saturday in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
