Didier Ollé-Nicolle: 'We want to focus our game on being ruthless'
The Paris Saint-Germain women's team coach spoke at a press conference about the game against Saint-Etienne, which will take place this Sunday 16 January at the Stade Salif Keita.
Saint-Étienne
"This is the team that gave us the most trouble at home. Saint-Etienne forced us to find new solutions. They are a very young team with strength and speed on the counter. Defensively, they are a young team so the idea is to play a very rigorous and serious match. We have had a very long week of work in preparation for the match against Lyon. We want to focus our game on ruthlessness. We want to win all our matches and be in the best possible conditions for the rest of the championship."
the squad
"Everyone is negative for Covid-19, and I hope there will be no bad news from the Saint-Etienne squad. After the postponed match against Dijon, we want and need to play to get back into the rhythm. The squad will not be far from being complete. Estelle Cascarino and Léa Khelifi will not be part of the group because they are recovering. We prefer to take it easy with them."
Stéphanie Labbé's departure
"I was involved in the discussions with the goalkeeping coach and Stephanie. Everything was very quick as it was not planned. She lived well in the group, she had a good influence on the whole squad. I must admit that it's a disappointment for me because the idea was to have three goalkeepers, two senior ones and a younger one. We have been trying to accompany Stéphanie for a fortnight and I realised that she was psychologically worn out from the competition. She wanted to live another life, to be away from the stress of the matches... Once the decision was made, I felt that she had decided to move on. You have to respect decisions that are really personal."
the goalkeepers
"Our three goalkeepers had different profiles. Stéphanie had the experience, Barbora Votikova has the dynamism and the strength, while Charlotte Voll has a bit of a mix of both, she is more composed. She has really evolved in the last six months. She has always put in serious performances when she has played. We've tried to look at all three goalkeepers since the start of the season. Barbora is an international goalkeeper. She had good games with us, she was decisive in maintaining results. I have full confidence in Barbora and Charlotte."
