Lawrence: 'We have confidence in ourselves'

Paris Saint-Germain will take on Lyon in the final of the Coupe de France this Sunday and Canadian full-back Ashley Lawrence looked ahead to the match with PSG TV.

Ashley, how is the squad feeling after pre-season training?
"It was very tough to get back into the rhythm of things after a break of several months due to COVID-19. Our three friendly matches really helped us get back in form and then the Coupe de France semi-final against Bordeaux was a great chance to measure where we are at."

The win over Bordeaux was an excellent result...
"We showed a lot of character. We managed to come from behind, away from home. It shows how strong we are and now we have to put all of those ingredients into the final."

What does the Coupe de France mean to you?
"It's a trophy to be won. It's very important for me and for the club. We won the Coupe de France in 2018, and it is a great memory. We can do it again this Sunday. It will be a great match and the whole squad is united with the coaching staff and we are all focused and want to win."

Is the win in 2018 a source of motivation for this Sunday?
"Of course! We have told the girls who weren't here then all about it. But we also have to contain our emotions. We know Sunday will be a tough match but we have confidence in oursleves. We will be playing to win. We want the trophy."

Matches against Lyon are always special...
"We know they are a great team. We have to focus on ourselves, on what we know how to do and what we can control. There is a lot of history between us and Lyon, and as a footballer, you dream of playing games like this."
