Jocelyn Prêcheur: 'We wanted to return to this competition'

On the eve of the the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League against Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain coach Jocelyn Prêcheur answered questions from PSG TV and the press. Extracts.

THE MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED

"Everyone is fit and ready to play except for Clare Hunt, who is still not quite ready. For tomorrow, we have a very specific strategy. We've analysed the Manchester United team extensively and have also assessed our strengths based on our recent matches. The objective was to find the best strategy considering these two factors."

UEFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

"The Champions League is a major competition, and participating in it is an objective for the club. We still carry the frustration of not having knocked out Wolfsburg last year. So, as soon as that match ended, we wanted to return to this unique and prestigious competition. Of course, domestic competitions are also very important, but the UEFA Women's Champions League generates special feelings that all the players want to experience again."

LIEKE MARTENS

"Lieke is one of the top players we have in the squad. It's true that she went through a period where she was less effective, but we had a lot of conversations. As a coach, my objective is to use all the strengths I have at my disposal, and she is one of them. We discussed her development and how we could integrate her with the new players who have just arrived, so that she can express herself and showcase her full talent. Therefore, I intend to use her and have her play, especially in such important matches."

THE PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN ATTACK

"We are trying to rebuild our attack. Tabitha Chawinga joined us a few weeks ago, and now we need to build some chemistry. We work on a daily basis to try to find that synergy. We have also tried different things in our recent matches: some had positive outcomes, while others were less successful. So, we are fine-tuning gradually to find the best possible combination."
