Irene Paredes: 'Go all the way'

The Paris Saint-Germain captain issues a rallying cry for the squad as they head into the run-in for the league title.

Irene, the team picked themselves up after the defeat to Barcelona by picking up two crucial league wins..

"Yes, it was a difficult week because after playing a Champions League semi-final that took a lot of energy, mentally and physically, recovering took some time. We played a game on Thursday without having recovered physically and even less so mentally. But we don't have time, we want to win the title and to do that we have to win all our games. You could also see that it was a little tough in terms of  our play. It wasn't our best performance, but the most important thing is to get back to feeling good and above all taking the three points."

Do you feel that the team is fully focussed on the run-in?

"Yes, absolutely. We haven't got time to think about it too much. The days after we were knocked out were difficult, the start of last week too, because it hurt. We had put a lot of energy and motivation into the semi-final. But we still have a trophy to play for. So we have to put all that to one side and give everything to achieve that."

What's the spirit like?

"We feel strong, very strong. That's why our disappointment is all the greater. But you can feel the team feels good and is motivated. We have worked well, we have a lot of determination, and we we want to keep going, and go all the way. We want to play and above all win the next game, and go step by step. That's how we've got to where we are. Up to now, we've played every game as if it were a final. We're calm and confident."
