Griedge Mbock: "My aim is to take Paris to the top"
Paris Saint-Germain’s newest defender answered PSG TV’s questions about her move to Paris and the new challenge that awaits her.
Griedge, welcome to Paris. How does it feel to officially become a Paris Saint-Germain player?
“I’m so happy and proud. It’s an honour to sign for this club. The club turned to me and is now giving me a new challenge and the chance to keep winning titles because this is an ambitious club. That’s all I can wish for.”
What does joining Paris mean to you?
“First of all, it’s the French capital, and as I said, Paris Saint-Germain is an ambitious club. I still have that aim of continuing to win titles in mind, and that’s what drives me. I think that this team has big potential, and if I can help, I’ll be happy to do so.”
What motivated you to join Paris Saint-Germain?
“Of course, there’s the infrastructure, but there are also the discussions that I had with the club. I’m a very people-orientated person, and the discussions that I had with the people here encouraged me to come here and to take up this new challenge.”
What do you think you can contribute to the team?
“I hope to contribute my experience. This is a young team but one with big potential, and I hope to share my experience with the younger players and the team in general.”
As a player, how would you define yourself?
“I’m a pretty calm player who can be aggressive when needed. Off the pitch, I have pretty much the same attributes, minus the aggression!”
You’re set to be reunited with a few players that you know well. Did you get to talk to any of them about your move?
“Yes, I know a lot of people here, like Aïssatou Tounkara, who is one of my best friends, Sakina Karchaoui, who I also get along very well with, Grace Geyoro and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. I spoke to them, and they only had positive things to say about the club and the team.”
There’s a tournament coming up in Australia at the end of August. How do you feel about that?
“Australia is a beautiful country. It’ll be my first time there, and it’s a good thing for Paris Saint-Germain to be able to visit a new audience, who can support our cause and follow us even more.”
Finally, do you have anything to say to the Paris Saint-Germain fans?
“I’m really happy to have signed here, and I’ll do all that I can to win titles. My aim is to take Paris to the top.”
