Prêcheur: 'Focus on the positives'

Gérard Prêcheur and Ashley Lawrence spoke to PSG TV after Paris Saint-Germain's narrow defeat to Olympique Lyonnais in Sunday's Trophée des Championnes.

Gérard PrÊcheur

'We have to focus on the positives. There was a lot to be happy with in our football today, both on an individual and on a team level. Lots of positives. We need to build on that, and there was plenty of build on in that performance. We will analyse what we did well and look at our strengths. We know what our weaknesses are: the hardest thing is to score goals. I hope we will soon have a new striker to help fill the gap left by Marie-Antoinette (sidelined with a knee injury). But it was a really good match, against a strong opponent, with a good crowd, in a nice stadium. It was a great advertisement for women's football. We have worked very hard on the foundations of our football, on controlling the game, possession and playing forward. We haven't had the time to really work on our finishing yet. Now we have to wait for the international players to return before continuing to train on our teamwork. I am very demanding, and I thought the players were superb tonight. I congratulate them for their peformance tonight.'

Ashley Lawrence

'We have mixed emotions. We are disappointed with the result, but also proud of our performance. We are still in preseason, even if this was a competitive match for a trophy. We wanted to win. I'm proud of the team. I think we played really well. It's a shame, because we had chances to score. We have to put them away. This is only the beginning and I think we are getting stronger. Now we have to focus on the first game of the league season. It's the same with the start of every new season. This year we have a new coach and coaching staff, we need to adapt to a new style but we like it. We know a season is long and a lot can happen. We have the league, the Champions League, lots of competitions and matches. Now we have to accept this defeat and move on. We've got an international break now and when we return we will be focused on that first game of the seaon.'
