A victorious start for the Parisians!

At the end of a well-managed opening game, the Parisians won their first three points of the season and are now provisionally at the top of the Arkema D1 ranking (2-0).

With new additions to the squad and a new coach, the women's team opened the festivities in the first D1 match of the season. Gérard Prêcheur lined up with a forward trio composed of Bachmann, Diani and Martens while De Almeida and Ilestedt played in midfield.

The players from the capital were keen to get back to this great competition which will be part of their daily routine throughout the season. The energy expended by the team from the start of the match was proof of this. And it was with the first big chance that the Parisians set the tone. Diani controlled a terrific pass from Amanda Ilestedt and then laid it off to Lieke Martens, who slotted the ball into the back of the net (1-0, 5'). The No.22 scored her first goal for the club in an official encounter and incidentally the first goal of the 2022-2023 season in D1 Arkema.

Kadidiatou Diani could have made it 2-0 a few minutes later from the penalty spot, but the ball struck the post (8'). The striker was determined to score the second goal, but her attempts went wide, one after the other. The Parisians were never really worried and continued to push forward with great determination, as shown by Laurina Fazer's long-range shot (30') and Diani's header which went just over the goal (32').

And the efforts finally paid off and Diani was rewarded! From a corner taken by Bachmann, our n°11 controlled the ball and catapulted it into Romane Munich's goal (2-0, 34'). The Parisians continued to attack, but without success. They went back to the locker room with a nice lead.

After the break, the Parisians were determined to cause a bit more trouble in the Soyaux area. Martens, Diani and Karchaoui took it in turns to push the ball forward. The Rouge et Bleu's number 22 tried her luck with a powerful free-kick that went just wide of the goal (54'), but the best chance was created by Grace Geyoro. The Parisian captain was sent through by Martens and ran straight at the defender, but the Soyaux goalkeeper was determined to keep her team alive (71'). Li Mengwen came on to play her first ever minutes in D1 Arkema. The club from the capital continued their efforts without scoring again.

Paris Saint-Germain's women's team won their first D1 fixture of the season and are now provisionally top of the table. Gérard Prêcheur and his players will make their first away trip of the season next weekend to promoted Occitan side Rodez.
