Viran Morros: 'Happy to be back in Europe'

On Saturday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball returns to Europe for the first day of the Velux EHF Champions League. Viran Morros spoke about his return to competition and his personal situation.

Psg.fr: For your first match, you face Zagreb, a team you know well...
Viran Morros: "It will be complicated... Starting a competition is never easy. Especially since we're playing away from home, against a young but aggressive team. Last season, we played well there, with a great game from Rodrigo [Corrales] and we have to start again on Saturday."

You left the competition on a bad note, despite a great match in Kielce. Is it important for you to prove that you can do better?
"Of course! Of course! We need to play this competition again. Last season, it ended sooner than we had hoped it would. Our goal was to get to the Final4, so not being able to do so was a disappointment. But we're starting again from scratch and once again we have the opportunity to achieve this objective."

How do you rate this group?
"It will be difficult, because there are four teams that can really compete in the Final4. The others will also be complicated to play against. It's not clear who are the favourites in this group, but there will be some huge matches at Coubertin and I hope the arena will be full."

You're heading into a very busy stretch. Is this the real beginning of the season?
"Let's go [laughs]! All the players here are used to playing several games a week. We have a squad of 17 players, which allows us to rotate. We need everyone! We need everyone! Raul and Jota know how to handle this very well."

This is your second season in Paris, with this coaching staff. How do you feel here?
"It's easier now because we know the system better. So we can work on more things. I feel very comfortable at this club and in this city. I am very happy."

There is also a new captain, Luka Karabatic...
"Luka has everyone's respect. He is a leader. We follow him and listen to him when he talks. He is also the first to work and this is important for everyone. He's going to do his part well."
