Vincent Gérard: 'Coubertin can be electric!'

Paris Saint-Germain Handball goalkeeper Vincent Gérard sat down for a chat about the final stages of Les Rouge et Bleus' season.

Was the game in Dunkerque a good opportunity to start the final sprint?

"For me the final sprint started against Montpellier in the Coupe de France (41-24). It was from that moment on that started playing decisive matches. From that point, there are only difficult matches that you can't afford to lose. This is the exciting part of the season and this is where we wanted to be. It's up to us to get the job done!"

What do you remember about the double-header against Kiel last year?

"Those were two high-level matches. There were no fans in Kiel but we had a few for the home game. It's a great memory, because it was the first time in six months that the fans were back in the arenas. This time, we will play the return leg at their place, in a full house. Which will also be the case at home! At least, we hope so. It's a fun game to play against a great team and great players and we hope to do well."

So the fans will be important again against Kiel?

"I hope the crowd are on our side from start to finish. It doesn't have as many seats as Kiel, but the venue can be electric with its intimate layout. So I hope people will come and be as motivated as we are."

These are your last weeks in Paris. What's that like?

"I'm used to moving, so I'm fully focused on the Paris project. The next few weeks are going to be so exciting! I'm enjoying these last games. There are some very important games to play. "

What would be the best way to end your adventure here?

"To win the three remaining titles. The EHF Champions League and the Coupe de France. A final in Bercy is special. So we're trying to go all the way in each competition."
