See you next season!

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball brought their 2022-23 season to a close at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. Beaten 24 hours earlier by Kielce (24-25) in the Truckscout24 EHF Final4 semi-final, they were now facing Barcelona, who had lost on penalties to Magdeburg (40-39). The aim was to end the season on a high note and finish third in the EHF Champions League.

Led by an excellent Sadou Ntanzi, Les Rouge et Bleu got off to a good start and took the lead (5': 3-4). But things soon got tougher for our team... Worn out by the previous day's match, they were unable to find a way past a very solid Catalan defence. As such, Paris now had to chase the score (14': 12-6). Despite a fight-back - orchestrated by Kamil Syprzak, David Balaguer and Mathieu Grébille - that allowed the Parisians to make up some of their deficit (25': 17-12), the end of the first period was very difficult and it was Barça who returned to the dressing room several points ahead.

In the second half, Les Rouge et Bleu tried to respond, but it was a bridge too far (38': 28-20). Every time they had a chance to get back into the game, they were immediately pushed back and were unable to close the gap (44': 30-23). Barcelona's machine was perfectly oiled and every Parisian mistake was paid for in cash. However, in the final minutes, the capital club regained their defensive and attacking efficiency and came back into the game (52': 33-28). Unfortunately, it was not enough to equalise, and Paris Saint-Germain Handball had to concede defeat to a fine team. As a result, Paris Saint-Germain Handball finished fourth in the Final4, bringing the 2022-2023 season to a close. See you next season!
