Les Rouge et Bleu round off 2023 in style

Match reports

Paris Saint-Germain Handball beat Nîmes 34-24 in their Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 15 clash on Wednesday evening. Here's a look back at our final match of 2023.

On Wednesday evening, Les Rouge et Bleu played their final match of 2023 at a sold-out Parnasse arena in Nîmes. Raul Gonzalez's men, who took a spotless winning record into the match, were keen to continue their good run of form and consolidate their lead at the top of the table.

With Andreas Palicka making two fine saves at the start of the game, the Parisians converted their chances to quickly break the deadlock (5': 1-3). Les Rouge et Bleu were as fluid as ever, with Luc and Jacob particularly successful against Joze Baznik, both scoring three times in the first quarter of an hour (12': 4-7).

Andreas was also at the heart of the capital club's numerous counter-attacks, making seven saves (54%). As the Parisians took control of the scoreboard, Nîmes decided to call their first time-out of the match (21': 6-11). As the end of the first period approached, Les Rouge et Bleu maintained a comfortable lead (26': 8-13). Nikola's brace took his tally to three and sent his side into the locker room with a four-goal lead (30th: 11-15).

After the break, the Parisians kept up the pressure, scoring four goals in a row thanks in particular to a quick-fire triple from Elohim (36': 13-20). Struggling in the second half, Nîmes decided to stop play in an attempt to inject some fresh momentum. However, Kamil Syprzak maintained the onslaught, scoring his sixth goal of the match (41': 16-23).

As money-time approached, the outcome of the match looked all but certain, with the capital club nine goals to the good (49': 18-27). Jannick Green, who had just come on for the final period, made two consecutive saves to maintain the Parisians' lead (55': 20-29). At the end of a masterfully controlled match, Paris triumphed comfortably at Le Parnasse in Nîmes (60': 24-34). It was the final match of a fine 2023 and an exceptional start to the Liqui Moly StarLigue season, with 15 wins from as many games. Now it's time for the winter break, as several Parisians will be joining their national teams in the next few days ahead of EHF Euro 2024. See you in February!
