Preview: Five things about Paris - Créteil

After their victory in Magdeburg (22-29), Paris Saint-Germain Handball returns to Liqui Moly StarLigue action with the Round 4 visit of Créteil on Saturday afternoon. Check out what's at stake in this derby!

1 - THE TABLE

Beaten for the first time in the league since April 2021 last weekend in Toulouse (35-27), Les Rouge et Bleu are not far off the top spots. With two wins and one defeat in three games, they are currently seventh, just two points behind leaders Nantes.

The Cristoliens have the opposite record, with two defeats and one win. They are, however, coming off a prolific 40-38 win victory against Chartres.

2 - SOME STATISTICS

With 40 goals scored during the last match, Créteil are logically in the upper reaches of the attacking table (fifth with 103 goals), notably thanks to Valentin Aman, who already has 20 goals. The Parisians are just behind them with 96 strikes.

In the defensive domain, Andreas Palicka (28 saves) and his partners have proven efficient in this early season. They have the fourth-best defence in the Liqui Moly StarLigue, with 86 goals conceded. In this sector, our future opponents are 13th (113 goals conceded).

3 - YOANN FACING HIS FORMER TEAMMATES

After three seasons spent in Créteil, Yoann Gibelin joined the capital this summer. This is the first time he will face his boyhood club. With Créteil, our left-back scored 228 league goals (including 109 in 2020-2021).

4 - HEAD TO HEAD

Last season, Raul Gonzalez's men won both matches against USC. First at the Palais des Sports Robert Oubron, when Mikkel Hansen chimed in with 11 goals in a 32-36 win. In the return match, Les Rouge et Bleu ended their season with a 30th win from as many matches (38-33). Historically, they have won 15 times, drawn three times and lost eight times in this derby.
