Preview: 5 things about Paris - Wisla Plock

Mercredi soir, l’EHF Champions League fait son retour au Stade Pierre de Coubertin ! A cette occasion, le Paris Saint-Germain Handball accueille Wisla Plock, lors de la 2ème journée de la phase de poules.

1 - Les premiers résultats

Les Polonais ont débuté leur aventure européenne de la meilleure des manières. A domicile, ils ont disposé de Porto (27-23), bien emmenés par le 7 sur 8 de leur nouvelle recrue, Gonzalo Perez Arce. L’ailier droit espagnol faisait d’ailleurs partie de l’équipe-type de la 1ère journée.

For their part, despite a good performance, Les Rouge et Bleu, kitted out in grey, lost in the second half to Veszprém (36-34). But Raul Gonzalez's men were showed plenty of promise, notably with seven goals from Dainis Kristopans.

2 - NEW FACES

Wisla Plock are a lively side in the Champions League. Kamil Syprzak's former team brought in a dozen new players, including several from the Liqui Moly StarLigue, notably, Tomas Piroch (Créteil) and Kosuke Yasuhira (Nîmes), over the summer. Yasuhira, a Japanese international, showed a lot of promise during his time with Nice.

3 - PERFECT LEAGUE STARTS

Both Plock and Paris, have tackled the start of their respective league season with aplomb. Plock's great rival Kielce have won their first three games in the Superliga, while the capital club have two victories from as many games, with a win last weekend against Sélestat (36-23).

4 - HEAD TO HEAD 

This is the fifth meeting between these two teams, who have always crossed swords in the group stage, in the Champions League. The head-to-head record is in Paris' favour, with four wins from as many meetings. The last time they met was in Plock in 2016-2017. Thanks to seven goals from Uwe Gensheimer and a 5 from 5 by Luka Karabatic, Paris got the better of Rodrigo Corrales' teammates (25-29).
