Pre-match: 5 things about Sélestat - Paris

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball take part in Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 17, travelling to the the Centre Sportif Intercommunal to challenge Sélestat.

1 - THE TABLE

Heading into Round 17, the Alsatians find themselves sin bottom place on the table - but their relegation is not yet assured. They are only four points shy of safety and a series of victories could allow them to save their skins.

As for Les Rouge et Bleu, they are almost at the top of the standings. They currently have the same number of points as leaders Montpellier, but are behind due to their defeat in the south-west (31-30). As a reminder, the return match between the capital club and the MHB will take place at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in April.

2 - KEY STATS

The difference in ranking is reflected in the stats. In attack, the Alsatians have had some difficulties finding the net and as a result have the weakest attack in the division, with 444 goals scored (despite the 92 goals of top scorer Toke Schroder). Conversely, the Parisians' attack is the most prolific, with 563 goals scored, thanks in particular to Elohim Prandi, who has bagged 95 goals since the start of the season.

Defensively, Sélestat are doing better, thanks mainly to Romain Mathias. The SAHB 'keeper has already parried 113 shots and leads a defence that has conceded 525 goals in the Liqui Moly StarLigue. Paris are doing a bit better with 479 goals concede. Andreas Palicka is our most outstanding keeper (139 saves).

3 - A LOOK BACK AT THE FIRST MATCH

In September, Les Rouge et Bleu hosted Sélestat for their Rond 2 fixture. Raul Gonzalez's men controlled the match well for a solid win (36-23). In terms of individuals, Sadou Ntanzi bagged eight goals while our Swedish goalkeeper made 13 saves.

4 - HEAD TO HEAD
